GCA Eagle Run
The GCA Eagle Run provides an opportunity to participate in timed races or a non-competitive walk in Towanda, Pennsylvania. The event is based at the Independent Baptist Church and features a course that follows the Merrill Parkway, offering views of the Susquehanna River. Participants have the choice of several distances and formats:
- 10K (approximately 6.2 miles)
- 5K (approximately 3.1 miles)
- Spirit Walk
The event includes an optional "Color Blast" feature, where participants can choose to have color powder added to their experience along the race course. Pre-registration is available until early April, and those who register by March 6 receive a commemorative t-shirt. The first 200 finishers across all categories are awarded a custom medal.
The gathering includes various community activities on-site at the church, such as a bake sale, face painting, and activities designed for children. Attendees can also participate in a silent auction and a Chinese auction featuring items donated by local businesses. Food options include a chicken BBQ, which is available via pre-order for pickup during the afternoon.
Awards are categories by age groups, ranging from 12 and under to 70 and up. Top overall male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K receive trophies and gift cards, while top finishers in each age bracket receive local pastry prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
