Gator Gauntlet Off-road Triathlon
The Gator Gauntlet Off-road Triathlon takes place on August 29, 2026, at Sam Houston Jones State Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with paddling on the Calcasieu West Fork River. The full triathlon course is composed of approximately 4 miles of trail running, 8 miles of mountain biking, and a 1 mile paddle on the river.
Event distances include:
- 13 Miles - Single Off-road Triathlon and Off-road Triathlon Relay
- 7 Miles - The Hatchling Hustle duathlon
Equipment and safety notes are specified for each event. The Single Off-road Triathlon requires participants to bring a mountain bike and a kayak; life jackets are required for the kayak leg and bicycle helmets are required for the mountain biking leg. The Off-road Triathlon Relay prefers participants to bring a kayak, and kayaks and life jackets will be available on a first come first use basis; life jackets and bicycle helmets are required. The Hatchling Hustle follows a 3 mile trail run, a 1 mile paddle, then another 3 mile trail run, and is identified as the only duathlon in SWLA.
