Garden City Backyard Ultra : Toowoomba Showgrounds
The Garden City Backyard Ultra is an ultramarathon event on October 3, 2026, held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in Glenvale, Queensland. The race uses the backyard ultra format: competitors must complete repeated laps of 6.706 km within one hour, and the race continues until only one runner completes a lap when all others have dropped out.
The course runs through sections of the showgrounds and includes a variety of surfaces: dirt in the Main Arena, bitumen on the Peter Watts Criterium Track, grass and trail in the Wilderness Challenge, a rocky gully known as Theresa's Gully, and a partial lap around the Showgrounds Lake. The event is timed to coincide with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Entry is limited to 200 participants. Onsite camping is available with 100 camp sites at the showgrounds. Early bird entry is listed at $120 until June 29, 2026, with a regular entry fee of $150 thereafter. Entry includes race timing, a 3x3 m area on the main arena for a personal shelter, a finisher's trinket for those who complete at least one lap, access to aid stations, and volunteer support.
