TRR Murphys Creek Challenge
The Toowoomba Road Runners presents the Murphys Creek Challenge on Sunday 16 August at Murphys Creek Recreation Reserve, Dodts Road, Murphys Creek. The event offers three course distances and runs mainly on Penderest Road. The surface is primarily dirt roads and 4WD track through scenic surroundings, with an undulating profile and an out-and-back layout that starts and finishes at the reserve.
Distances:
- 7 km turnaround at the 3.5 km mark.
- 14 km out-and-back to the 7 km turnaround point.
- 21.1 km half marathon consisting of one 14 km lap plus the 7 km lap.
There are three water stops on course, located at each turnaround and at the 5 km point. Water and refreshments are available at the start and finish area. Participants are advised to carry their own water and sun protection. A 3.5 hour cutoff applies to all participants.
No dogs, prams, horses, bikes or scooters are permitted on course. The post event area at the reserve will include stalls such as a sausage sizzle, a coffee van and TRR merchandise for sale. Running clubs and groups may set up tents the day before the event by arranging a spot with the organisers.
Race packs are available for collection at TriRunning, 94a Mort Street, Toowoomba, and at Murphys Creek Recreation Reserve on the day before and on event day. Entry fees include a hot breakfast and are listed as 7 km $45, 14 km $55, half marathon $65; fees exclude the online booking charge.
