Galactic Gator 5K at Fort Anahuac Park
The Galactic Gator 5K is scheduled for September 12, 2026, at Fort Anahuac Park in Anahuac, Texas. The event includes a community 5K and a youth 1K and is presented to benefit the Anahuac Engineering Design Class. The park address is 1704 S Main St, Anahuac, TX 77514.

The Anahuac Engineering Design Class uses event proceeds to support its projects. The class is largely self-funded, receiving about 95% of its budget through grants, fundraising, and events. Students in the class design and build rockets that have carried a one-pound payload to about one mile altitude and reached speeds at or above Mach 1.25. The group has pursued high-altitude tests, including attempts to reach 50,000 feet that were tested by the Army at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
The program has recorded notable firsts. Students completed the first student-built rocket test with FAA approval at an American airshow and conducted the first rocket drag races at an airshow. Registration opens May 29, 2026 and closes August 31, 2026. Fees listed for the events are $50.00 for the 5K and $25.00 for the kids 1K.
