FWRC Watermelon Run
The FWRC Watermelon Run is held at Trinity Park Pavilion #1, 2300 West 7th Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107. The event includes multiple short races and a post-race refreshment period.
Distances and race formats:
- Kids 1K free fun run
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) on a flat course
- 1-Mile Watermelon Relay two-person teams, each carries a watermelon for half a mile
The 5K is described as a flat and fast course in Trinity Park. Awards for the 5K include overall male and female winners and age-group placings. Chip timing is provided via ChronoTrack B-Tag by Run-Time Racing Services.
The 1-Mile Watermelon Relay is a separate race that starts after the 5K. Teams of two run, walk, or drive to an exchange point; each teammate carries the watermelon for their half-mile leg. Relay entry is on-site only and is free if at least one member of the team registers for and participates in the 5K. Relay rules require competitors to carry a whole watermelon, with no bikes or carts; a shirt may be used to carry the melon, and the watermelon must not be dropped and must be intact at the finish. Awards are given to first place male teams, female teams, and mixed teams.
Pre-registration is available until Saturday, August 8, 2026. Pre-registration prices are FWRC Members $10 and Non-Members $15. Race day registration prices are $20 for both members and non-members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
