Full moon headlamp hike, run or ride - Grand Junction
This is a social outdoor event on the Lunch Loop Trailhead in Grand Junction that combines an evening hike, run, or bike ride with the sunset and the rising full moon. Organizers ask participants to bring comfortable shoes and clothing, a headlamp, and a small pack for water and snacks; they will distribute free mini flashlights to participants who do not have a headlamp. Organizers also plan to send a weather update the day before the event to registered participants.
After the outdoor portion, there is a post-event gathering at Handlebar Tap House for refreshments and casual conversation. The event is produced by Grand Valley Brew Runs with support from local partners including Grand Valley Outdoor Recreation, Gearhead Outfitters, Grand Junction Sports Commission, Mesa Monument Striders, and Desert Dose.
A charity partner for the event is Girls on the Run Western Colorado. That organization runs programs that combine physical activity with life skill development and concludes the season with a group 5K to provide participants a sense of accomplishment and teamwork.
The event is presented as an in-person community activity on the Lunch Loop trails in Grand Junction, Colorado, with basic equipment recommendations and partner organizations noted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
