Full Moon 5k - Birdseye
The Full Moon 5k is a nighttime running event held at Patoka Lake, 3084 N Dillard Rd., Birdseye, IN 47513 (property is in Wickliffe, IN). The course covers 3.106 Miles and follows woodland paths that include paved roads, a 6-mile paved bike trail section, and a well-lit gravel road lined with tiki torches and moonlight.
All race proceeds support Patoka Lake's birds of prey educational program and the care of non-releasable wildlife ambassadors. Race entry fees are structured by registration date: $20 for entries from April 21 through August 7 (race t-shirt included) and $30 for entries August 8 through August 28 (race t-shirt not guaranteed). Registration opens on April 21 and pre-registration is preferred.
Onsite registration and packet pick-up are available on the event date at two locations: at the Patoka Lake Nature Center earlier in the day and at the beach in the evening. Race participant vehicle entrance fees are waived; other vehicles pay the regular recreation area fee ($7 or $15 for out-of-state vehicles).
Awards will be presented to overall male and female winners and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Amenities on site include shower houses, restrooms, and camping; additional lodging is available in nearby Jasper and French Lick. Cancellation policy: no refunds and entries are not transferable.
