Frugal Frolic 5k (Lucky Leprechaun)
The Frugal Frolic is a 5k loop around Colby Lake in Woodbury, Minnesota, held on March 14, 2026. The event is presented as a lower-cost, cashless race; it does not include tee shirts or swag. Registration is required online, including for participants who register on race day.
There are two race options. The standard Frugal Frolic 5k is a normal 5k where the fastest finisher wins. The Lucky Leprechaun edition adds a timing twist: at registration each participant predicts a 5k finish time. Predicted times may be changed until March 1 by contacting the organizer with the runner name and new time.
During the Lucky Leprechaun race no watches, phones, or timing devices are allowed; any watch must be covered and a participant seen checking a watch will not be counted as a finisher. The winner in the Lucky Leprechaun edition is the runner who finishes closest to their predicted time without going over. The course is described as a loop encircling Colby Lake and participants are advised to follow the posted route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
