About the race
Frostbite 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for January 9, 2027, at the Rugby Field on the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park, 2949 Scenic Loop, Louisville, KY. The event is part of two series: River City Races Run the 502 and the Polar Bear Grand Prix, serving as the second leg of the Polar Bear Grand Prix winter series. The event offers in-person and virtual participation options. Entry includes a long sleeve 1/4 zip tech shirt (subject to change), a finisher medal, free race photography, and age group awards.
Awards are given for Overall, Masters, and Grand Masters, and Ken Combs Running Store gift certificates are provided to top finishers and age group winners. There is a team competition and a Polar Bear Grand Prix Team Challenge open to 3 to 5 person teams in Male, Female, or Coed divisions; the fastest three on each team are scored and Coed teams must include one woman. There is no additional fee to enter the team challenge. The Olmsted Parks Conservancy is the event charity partner; participants may fundraise or donate and those who raise $150 or more qualify for free registration under the fundraiser terms.
Registration is tiered with on-site and virtual packet mailing options and increasing fees closer to the event date. Parking at the Rugby Field is limited and attendees are advised to consider carpooling or parking elsewhere around the Scenic Loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
