The Frostbite 5k Run/Walk takes place on January 9, 2027, at 2949 Scenic Loop in Louisville, Kentucky. The event is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series and is the second leg of the Polar Bear Grand Prix winter series.
Event formats offered include:
- 5k in person
- Virtual 5k
- Virtual 5k with packet mailing
Entry benefits listed for participants include a long sleeve 1/4 zip tech shirt (subject to change), a finisher medal, free race photography, age group awards, awards for overall, masters and grand masters, and a team competition. Race awards include Ken Combs Running Store gift certificates for top overall finishers and age group medals that attach to the finisher ribbon. Each Polar Bear Grand Prix race has its own finisher medal and the three medals fit together to form a larger series medal. The first 300 entrants in the series receive an extra race goodie.
The Polar Bear Grand Prix Team Challenge is open to teams of three to five people in male, female, or coed divisions; the fastest three on each team are scored and a coed team must include at least one woman. The event lists the Olmsted Parks Conservancy as a charity partner and notes a fundraising option where raising $150 or more makes registration free. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race and on race day at the Rugby Field on the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park. Parking at the Rugby Field is limited; participants are asked not to park on the grass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
