About the race
The Frigid Trail Race & Polar Plunge is a trail running event at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC that offers two distance options and a post-race plunge into the Deep Water Solo pool. The event features organized 5K and 10K trail courses and takes place on natural surface trails with uneven terrain; distances and mile markers are approximate. Registration is offered as pre-registration and day-of registration with a pre-registration deadline for pricing on January 27, 2027. Packet pick-up is scheduled on Thursday, January 28 and Friday, January 29 at the South Conference Center (evening packet pick-up hours are listed).
Race shirts and hoodies are guaranteed for participants who pre-register by January 18, 2027. A commemorative mug add-on includes a serving of hot chocolate. Race logistics note that the course will be marked by colored arrows, and aid stations will typically provide water only. Trails remain open to other users during the event; participants should remain attentive and courteous and are strongly discouraged from using headphones or personal music devices.
No pets or e-bikes are allowed on the course. Participants must sign the required assumption of risk waiver before participating. Registration is non-refundable; transfers are allowed under specified advance-notice conditions. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in defined age groups for both the 5K and 10K divisions; recipients must be present at the award ceremony to receive awards.
