Event overview
The Friendship APL 5K & Dog Walk takes place on May 9, 2026 in Elyria, OH 44035. The event includes the following distances:

- 1 Mile Dog Walk
The 5K is a timed event. The 1 Mile Dog Walk is not timed. Registration opens January 1, 2026. Prices are tiered: the 5K is $30 through April 1 and $35 afterward; the 1 mile walk is $20 through April 1 and $25 afterward. A race shirt is guaranteed for registrations through Thursday, May 1. Post-race refreshments and a post-race yoga session with an instructor from Bliss Mind and Body are provided.
Logistics and organizer
The course is an out-and-back route. Participants running with dogs are asked to start toward the back, keep dogs on a short leash, and be aware of runners coming back on the other side of the trail. Shelter dogs may be available to "rent" for the 1 mile walk on a first-come, first-served basis; availability depends on which dogs are up for adoption and on weather. Suggested donations for renting a shelter dog are $15-20. Carpooling is encouraged.
The event is organized by Friendship APL, a private, independent 501(c)(3) humane society founded in Elyria in 1957.
