Event Overview
The Friendship APL 5K & Dog Walk takes place on May 9, 2026, at the Bur Oak Pavilion in Elyria, Ohio. The event is organized to support the Friendship Animal Protective League (APL), a non-profit animal shelter serving Lorain County.
Events
The event offers two main activities:
- 5K Run/Walk: This is a timed running and walking event.
- 1 Mile Dog Walk: This is a non-timed walking event. For participants without a dog, shelter dogs may be available to accompany walkers for a suggested discretionary donation. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis and depends on the shelter's adoption roster and weather conditions on event day.
5K Awards
Awards are given for the 5K Run/Walk. The top three male and female finishers overall will receive awards, as will the top three finishers in each of the following age categories: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over.
Participant Inclusions
Registration for the events includes a race shirt (guaranteed for registrations by May 1), post-race refreshments, and a post-race yoga session led by an instructor from Bliss Mind and Body.
