Friends of Reston Fall 5K

Friends of Reston hosts an annual fall running event at Browns Chapel Park in Reston, Virginia. The event includes a 5K held on Reston paved trails and a children's Pumpkin Dash with a distance that varies by age, roughly 50 yards up to 200 meters. The Pumpkin Dash is free and finishing participants receive a small pumpkin; shirt purchases for dash participants are available for a fee.

Proceeds support Friends of Reston, a 501(c)(3) supporting organization of Reston Association, funding scholarship and enrichment programs. Online registration is used for all participants and remains open through race morning, with tiered registration fees for the 5K and a reduced fee for 5K participants age 14 and under. Runners registered before September 14 are guaranteed a commemorative race shirt; remaining shirts are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Packet pick up is scheduled at Browns Chapel Park on the day before the race. Awards are given to the overall top three male and female finishers and to top male and female finishers in multiple age groups, starting with 9 and under and continuing through 80 plus. Parking at Browns Chapel Park is limited; overflow locations are available on nearby property. Strollers are welcome. Volunteers are needed and a volunteer orientation is planned before race day.
