Friends of Reston Fall 5K & Pumpkin Dash
The Friends of Reston Fall 5K & Pumpkin Dash takes place on October 4, 2026 at Browns Chapel Park in Reston, Virginia. The event is the sixth annual Fall 5K and raises funds for scholarship and enrichment programs; all proceeds support Friends of Reston, a 501(c)(3) supporting organization of Reston Association.
A new Pumpkin Dash is offered for children 10 and under; participation is free and children who finish receive a small pumpkin. The 5K course uses Reston paved trails.
Distances:
- 5K - 5 kilometers on Reston paved trails
- Pumpkin Dash - about 50 yards to 200 m depending on age
Registration is online only and remains open through race morning. Fee tiers for the 5K: $40 through August 14, $45 August 14 through September 30, and $50 October 1 through race day. Youth 5K (14 & under) fees are $25 through August 14, $30 August 15 through September 30, and $35 October 1 through race day. Pumpkin Dash registration is free; a race shirt is not included but may be purchased for $15. Runners registered before September 14 are guaranteed a commemorative race shirt; others are served first-come, first-served.
Packet pick up is at Browns Chapel Park on October 3 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Awards will be given to the overall male and female top three finishers and top male and female in multiple age groups. Parking at Browns Chapel Park is limited; additional parking is available at nearby Reston Association facilities and overflow at Baron Cameron Park, about 0.5 miles away (approximately a 10-minute walk). Strollers are welcome. Volunteers are needed; a volunteer orientation is scheduled for October 3 at 11:00 am at the concession stand.
