Friends of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks 10K-5K and Fun Run/Walk
This event on Sunday, November 1, 2026, offers three paved course options within Cunningham Falls State Park in the William Houck (lake) Area, at 14274 William Houck Drive, Thurmont, MD 21788. The course maps, parking details, and mileposts are noted as coming soon.
- 5K: paved, rolling 5K through Cunningham Falls State Park; includes "The Hill".
- 10K: double-loop of the paved 5K course in Cunningham Falls State Park.
- Fun Run / Walk: untimed 1.4-mile stroll on pavement beside Big Hunting Creek Lake.
Registration closes at 9 PM on October 31; there is no race day registration. Packet pick-up is available Saturday, October 31 at Charm City Run in Frederick, and on race morning in the William Houck area (South Beach Circle parking area), with the morning pickup located about 200 feet from the start line. A Google race course map including parking and restrooms is noted as coming soon.
Directions from US 15 in Thurmont are provided: take MD 77 west, then Catoctin Hollow Road, then William Houck Drive; follow signage into the South Beach Circle parking area. The event clarifies it is in the William Houck Area, not at 14039 Catoctin Hollow Road or the Manor Area.
