Event overview
The Fresno Valentine Run is a recurring family event held in Fresno, CA at Woodward Park and the Shinzen Friendship Garden area. It has been presented as a family tradition since 2002. The event offers multiple in-person and virtual options, including:
- 5k (competitive and fun run)
- 2 mile (fun run/walk)
- Kids race (ages 1-10)
- Run Anywhere virtual option
Youth fun events are open to participants 18 and under. The virtual option can include shirt and medal shipping.
Course, packet pickup and logistics
The start arch for the 5k and 2 mile is located outside the Woodward Park Group Activity Area, north of the Shinzen Friendship Garden. The 5k route follows park roads and dirt trails including the Lewis Eaton Trail and sections near Audubon, then returns into the Group Activity Area for the finish. The 2 mile route follows park roads and the Lewis Eaton Trail. Strollers must travel about 200 feet on a dirt trail connecting the road to the Eaton Trail. Packet pickup is available at The Bike Shop @ Woodward (9433 N Fort Washington Rd, Fresno, CA) and at the Woodward Park Group Activity Area.
Amenities and awards
Amenities listed include chip timing, finisher medal, Valentine run T-shirt, a red rose, chocolate items, beverage options, a massage tent, costume contest, bounce house, photo characters, music and admission or coupons for the Shinzen Friendship Garden. Competitive 5k age group awards are given 1st to 3rd place male and female in age groups from 1-6 through 80+. Age group winners receive a Valentine mug. Fun runs do not have age group awards.
