About the race
The Fresno Urban Run begins inside Chukchansi Park in Fresno and covers approximately 3 Miles through an urban course that uses stadium stairs, parking garages and city streets. The course requires climbing every step from the bottom to the top of the stadium, running up a six-story circular parking garage and then down an adjacent six-story circular garage. Runners continue with a half mile run down Fulton Street to the Tuolumne Overpass, known on course as Urban Hill, before the final climb of 220 stairs to the top of the ten-story Grand Tower where the timing sensor stops the clock.
There are two named divisions: the standard Urban Run and an Urban Run Firefighter Division. The Firefighter Division provides fire fighters wearing turn-out gear an extra half hour head start. Registration for entries carries a fee of $50.00.
All event donations support the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. The Fresno Urban Run is scored as a 20 point race in the California Classic Runner of the Year Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
