Freedom To Move: Run, Walk and Wheel for Dystonia
Freedom To Move is a national month-long awareness and fundraising event held from June 1 to June 30, 2026, that raises funds for dystonia research and support programs. Past editions have raised over one million dollars.
Participants complete a run, walk, or wheel activity either virtually from anywhere in Canada during June or at the in-person site on June 14 at Downsview Park in Toronto. Registration options include individual, team, and family categories. The DMRF Canada Freedom to Move participant package is included for Canadian residents only. The top three individual fundraisers receive prizes. Fundraising remains open until July 14.
The event lists a specific fundraising target of $60,000 for the year; these funds could support one year of the DMRF Canada Clinical and Research Fellowship and other research studies. Registration pricing notes include an Early Bird discount from April 7 to May 14 that reduces registration fees by 50 percent, and a corporate team discount for in-person Toronto teams with 10 or more participants.
