Freedom Run 10K
The Freedom Run is an annual event hosted by the Georgia Southern University Army ROTC program in Statesboro, Georgia. It serves as the primary fundraiser for the Eagle Battalion, supporting ceremonies, training events, and scholarships, including the MSG Christopher Decker Memorial ROTC Scholarship. The event base is located at the Military Science (ROTC) Building on Old Register Road.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk/Crawl: Open to all ages and experience levels.
- 5K Ruck: Open to participants aged 13 and older. Participants carry their own weighted rucksacks, backpacks, or vests. Requirements are 30 lbs for females and 40 lbs for males, with weigh-ins conducted before and after the race.
- 10K Run: Open to participants capable of maintaining at least a jogging pace; walking is not permitted in this distance.
- Virtual Options: Virtual versions of the 5K, 10K, and Ruck are available.
The race environment is family friendly and permits well-behaved dogs on fixed leashes no longer than six feet. Parking is available in Lot 42, situated across from the Military Science (ROTC) Building. Awards are presented based on the specific information provided during registration, which must match the participant's details on race day.
