Event Overview
The Freedom Run is a community athletic event held in DeForest, Wisconsin. This annual gathering takes place over the Fourth of July period, typically centering on the holiday. Participants gather at Fireman's Park to take part in various distance options through the local area.
The event serves as a fundraiser for local organizations. Proceeds are donated to the DeForest Area Needs Network as well as the DeForest Area High School track and cross country programs. Local businesses and community groups provide sponsorship for the activities.
Race Options
Participants can choose from several different formats:
- 10K: A running only event.
- 5K: An option available for both runners and walkers.
- One Mile Fun Run: A shorter distance for participants.
- Virtual 5K/10K: A remote participation option for those unable to attend in person.
Registration and Logistics
Registration for the event is available online until early July. For those preferring to register in person or needing to collect their materials, packet pick up is organized at the DeForest High School stadium entrance in the days leading up to the race. Registration is also available on the day of the event. While event T-shirts are provided, they are not guaranteed for those who register after June 19th.
