Freedom 5k and Half
The Freedom 5k and Half takes place in Washington, DC, offering a flat and fast course layout. The event is held along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal path in the Georgetown area. Participants can choose between two primary distances, each with its own specific starting and finishing location:
- Half Marathon: This race begins and ends in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club.
- 5k: This race begins and ends at Fletcher's Boat House.
The course utilizes the canal path, providing a route through the heart of the district near the capital. Registration is open to both runners and walkers. For those unable to attend the physical event, virtual registration options are available, which allow participants to complete the distance independently with or without medals and shirts.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Operation Enduring Warrior. The physical races are located at 4940 Canal Rd NW, and participants can transfer their registrations if necessary.
