IMDC Freedom Firecracker 5K and Sparkler 1-Mile
This community running event takes place on July 4, 2026 at the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center, 9100 Freedom Center Blvd, Manassas, VA. It offers two distances:
- 5K
- Sparkler 1 Mile (not timed)
Registration fees vary by date: through 4/30 the 5K is $42.50 and the 1 Mile is $22.50; from 5/1 to 5/31 the 5K is $45 and the 1 Mile is $25; from 6/1 to 7/2 the 5K is $47.50 and the 1 Mile is $27.50. Race day packet pickup is the only packet pickup option.
All participants in both distances receive a custom race shirt, medal, custom bib, and a digital finisher’s certificate. A complimentary Kona Ice is provided to participants at the finish. Pacers will be available for target finish times of 20:00, 25:00 and 30:00.
Awards are informal at the pavilion near the start and finish. The top three overall men and women receive gift cards of $75, $50 and $25. The top three male and female 5K finishers in each age group receive gift cards of $15, $10 and $5 across age groups from 10 & Under through 80+.
The event limits dogs on the course for safety but allows strollers. The 5K has a 60 minute course time limit. One water station is provided at the 1.5 mile mark and additional water is available at the finish. A portion of proceeds benefits Hero’s Bridge, an organization serving elderly veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Iron Mountain Data Centers is listed as an event supporter. The race route is closed to spectators and access is limited to authorized race staff and public safety personnel in line with health and safety guidelines.
