Freedom 5K Run for the Wreath Fun Run/Walk
The Freedom 5K Run for the Wreath is a community fun run and walk taking place on July 4th in Gardnerville, Nevada. This event is the second installment of the "We Run This Town" series and is held at Heritage Park. The course starts and finishes on the Ezell Street side of the park at 1447 Courthouse Alley.
The event features several participation options:
- 5 km Fun Run (ages 11 and up)
- 5 km Veteran run
- 5 km Fun Run (ages 10 and under)
- 5 km Virtual Race
Registration is tiered by age and military status, with children aged 10 and under able to participate for free. A portion of every registration fee is donated to Wreaths Across America to help provide wreaths for military veterans interred at Garden Cemetery.
Participants are welcome to bring strollers and leashed dogs, though it is requested that these groups remain at the back of the starting pack to provide clear space for runners. Dogs must be child-friendly and current on vaccinations. All participants receive running medals, and trophies are awarded to the first, second, and third-place finishers. Following the run, the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra performs a concert at the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
