Patriotic Community Run in Avilla

The Freedom 5K is a community-focused running and walking event held in Avilla, Indiana. Organized to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, the race features a patriotic theme that honors national history and local pride. The event serves as a gathering for residents and visitors to participate in a fitness-oriented celebration within a small-town setting.

The course is designed as a scenic, stroller-friendly route that transitions through the heart of Avilla. Participants can choose between two primary distances:

  • 3.1 Miles (5K)
  • 1 Mile (Kids Freedom Fun Run)

The 3.1 Miles event is a timed race. Participants who register for this distance receive a finisher's medal and a T-shirt, though shirt availability is guaranteed only for those who register before June 5th. Post-race activities include refreshments and organized festivities for the community. The 1 Mile fun run is specifically designated for children between the ages of 5 and 12.

The event site is located at 104 Ley Street. While indoor public restrooms are available at the nearby library during their operating hours, participants are asked to use free public street parking located within a half-mile radius of the start and finish lines rather than the library parking lot.

The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages. Detailed registration options include a discounted rate for participants aged 65 and older, as well as a reduced fee for children aged 5 to 12 participating in the 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
