Armed Forces Endurance Run
The Armed Forces Endurance Run is a fixed-time endurance event held May 16, 2026, to honor active duty service members and veterans. Each year the race honors a different branch of the service; this year the event honors the Air Force.
The race takes place at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville, IN, north of Fort Wayne. Bixler Lake Park surrounds the 117-acre Bixler Lake. A pedestrian walkway and nature trail of over three miles circles the lake, passing two beaches and landscaped woodlands. The event course follows that three-mile walkway and includes sections of asphalt and true trail. Indoor restrooms are available on both sides of the lake.
Runners select a fixed-time option and run as much or as little as they wish within their chosen time limit. A relay option is offered for the 24 hour event with teams of three. Every participant receives a unique finisher medal and an additional award that reflects the mileage achieved.
Support for runners includes a staffed aid station and live music from an all veterans band during daytime hours. Designated campground spots are available across from the start and finish for a small fee, and free camping is available next to the start and finish on a first come first serve basis. Costs and reservation details for campsite use will be announced after the first of the year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
