Armed Forces Endurance Run 6 12 24 hours
The Armed Forces Endurance Run is a fixed time endurance event held at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville, IN. The event honors active duty service members and veterans; each year it highlights a different branch of service and this year focuses on the Air Force. The course follows a pedestrian walkway and nature trail that circles the 117 acre Bixler Lake and passes wetlands, two beaches, and landscaped woodlands.
Participants choose from these fixed time options:
- 6 hour run option
- 12 hour run option
- 24 hour run option
- 24 hour relay for teams of three
The loop is roughly three miles and includes sections of asphalt and true trail. Indoor restroom facilities are available on both sides of the lake. Each finisher receives a unique medal and an additional award that reflects the mileage achieved.
A relay format allows teams of three to share the 24 hour event. Camping is available either in designated campground spots across from the start finish area for a small fee or free next to the start finish area on a first come first serve basis. Organizers provide aid stations along the course and live music from a veterans band during the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
