Free Care 5K - St. Barnabas Health System
The Free Care 5K takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Meridian Road St. Barnabas Gibsonia Campus. The event is a fundraiser for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which provides more than $6 million in free care to patients in need each year. The 5K has been held for over 30 years to support that fund.
The course is a rolling 5K (3.1 mile) out-and-back that is USA Track & Field certified. The event uses ChampionChip timing and employs a startline corral to reduce congestion. A post-race gathering on the medical center lawn includes food and beverages for participants, a raffle with dozens of prizes, and an awards ceremony.
Participants include competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller users, and wheelchair users. Team competition requires three to five members per team with at least one female and a team name; teams must register in advance. Entry fees are $30 before August 1, 2026 and $35 on race day; fees are non-refundable. Inline skates, pets, and smoking are not allowed.
Packet pick-up is available Thursday, July 30 at The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, 5847 Meridian Rd, and Saturday, August 1 at St. Barnabas Medical Center Drive, 5830 Meridian Rd. Cash prizes and placement awards are offered for overall and age category finishers, wheelchair racers, and teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
