About the race
The Freeland Freaky 5's is a Halloween trail running event on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Hayes Park in Freeland, Michigan. Races use a new section of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail and follow an out-and-back route that parallels Old Midland Road, passes Pine Grove Cemetery, and turns toward the Tittabawassee River on an open trail section with no vehicle crossings.

The 5 Mile and 5K events are professionally timed under USATF sanctioning; the kids fun run and an untimed casual 5K option are not timed. The field is limited to 450 participants. All finishers receive custom finisher medals, and glow-in-the-dark finisher medals are featured. Long sleeve event shirts are available for registrants who choose the with shirt option; shirts are A4 Cooling Performance long sleeve shirts in unisex, ladies cut and youth sizing and require on-time ordering.
There are separate youth and adult costume contests with prizes including gift certificates. Overall awards are given three deep for male and female winners in the 5 Mile and 5K, with entry discounts offered to second and third place finishers for the following season. A Bayne’s Apple Valley gift basket is drawn on site and the winner must be present to claim it. Dogs are prohibited except service animals and strollers are not allowed in the 5 Mile or 5K events.
