Memorial Route 66 5K
This is a memorial running event held in Chelsea, Oklahoma, on brick paved streets along historic Route 66. The program includes a 5K race and a 1 mile Fun Run in conjunction with the town's 91st Annual Jamboree.
The event highlights local Route 66 attractions such as the Route 66 Underpass, the Chelsea Area Historical Museum, the Pryor Creek Bridge built in 1926 described as a remaining unaltered Modified Pratt through Truss bridge, Oklahoma's first oil well from 1889, and the Sears & Roebuck House delivered by railway in 1912. Participants receive custom finisher medals and a post race breakfast.
Registration is open for pre registration through September 25. Pre registration fees are $25 for the Fun Run and $35 for the 5K. Registering by September 13 guarantees a race shirt. Race day packet pickup and same day registration are available from 7:00 am to 8:10 am. Same day entry fees are $30 for the Fun Run and $40 for the 5K.
All proceeds benefit the Chelsea Public Schools cross country teams. Awards include overall male and female winners plus male and female age group recognition pins for first through third place finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
