About the race
The Fox Firecracker 5K is a Fourth of July running event in downtown Kaukauna at 100 Crooks Ave, with views of the Kaukauna Library and the Fox River. The program includes music from the UW Madison Marching Band and features apple pie as part of the celebration. The event is described as family friendly yet competitive and includes both in person and virtual participation options.
Distances and entry fees:
- 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles, registration fee $30
- Kids 1/4 mile run, untimed, for kids 8 years old or younger, registration fee $5
- Virtual 5K, 3.1 miles, registration fee $30
All registration is handled online. Registration opens February 1, 2027. Registration for the 5K and the virtual 5K closes June 15, 2027; registration for the kids run remains open on race day. Participants are asked to complete registration before arriving to pick up race bibs.
Every in person finisher receives a finisher medal and an American flag. Virtual runners may submit results between July 4 and July 8; final results will be posted July 9. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards. The event schedule begins with the marching band performance, followed by the kids run and then the 5K through downtown Kaukauna.
