Four Villages Half Marathon
The Four Villages Half Marathon is Helsby Running Club’s 43rd edition of its community-organised half marathon, held on 17 January 2027. The event is run by a local club for the running community and is UKA race certified; the course was adjusted and remeasured in 2022.
The start and finish are at different locations: the start is at Helsby Community Sports Club and the finish at Hornsmill Primary School, with a short five minute walk back to Race HQ. The route uses rural roads and may have some potholes in places. Race organisers provide water stations at miles 5, 8, 10 and at the finish; no gels are supplied.
The event operates a waved start with pace zones: Sub 1:30 (white), Sub 1:45 (green), Sub 2:00 (red), Sub 2:15 (blue), and Sub 2:30/Over 2:30 (yellow). There is a strict three hour cutoff; participants at the 10 mile marker more than 2 hours 20 minutes from the official start will be asked to stop and will be transported to Race HQ.
Free park and ride car parks with coach transport are provided by partners at EET/Essar Stanlow Induction Centre and Helsby High School, with return pick up outside the Sports Club. Technical race shirts feature artwork produced via a local primary school competition. The organisers also donate race proceeds to local charities and reported over £14,000 given to local causes in the previous year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
