Four Villages Half Marathon
Helsby Running Club presents the 43rd Four Villages Half Marathon, scheduled for 17 January 2027. The race is organised by a community running club, is UKA certified and was adjusted and remeasured in 2022. The start and finish are at different locations: the start is at Helsby Community Sports Club and the finish is at Hornsmill Primary School, with a short walk back to Race HQ.
The event uses a waved start with pace zones and pacers to manage runners by target pace. There is a strict three hour cut off; runners at the 10 mile marker more than two hours twenty minutes from the official start will be asked to stop and will be transported to Race HQ for safety and road closure reasons.
A free park and ride is provided from the EET/Essar Stanlow Induction Centre with complimentary coach transport to the start and back; participant parking is not available at Race HQ and parking marshals enforce restrictions in residential areas. The route is rural and run on public roads; course information notes some potholes in places and gives updated route maps and a timelapse preview.
Water is supplied at miles 5, 8, 10 and at the finish; gels are not provided. The race supports local charities, donated over £14,000 to local causes last year, and involves many local voluntary groups, suppliers and partners.
