Event overview
The Four Villages Half Marathon is organised by Helsby Running Club and will hold its 42nd edition on Sunday 18 January 2026. The race is a Half Marathon on rural roads around Helsby, Cheshire, with a field limit of 1,700 runners and a waiting list system if a place becomes available. The event is UKA certified and the course was adjusted and remeasured in 2022.
Logistics and race details
Start and race headquarters are at Helsby Community Sports Club (WA6 0FX); the finish is at Hornsmill Primary School (WA6 0ED), a short walk back to Race HQ. The course uses full road closures. Chip timing is provided and there are pacers at regular intervals with targets from 1:30 to 2:30. Water stations are located at miles 5, 8, 10 and at the finish; participants are asked to note that gels are not provided.
A free park and ride with complimentary coach transport operates from official car parks. The event includes a finisher’s medal, age category prizes, post-race snacks, free online race photos, free bag storage and optional technical short or long sleeve T-shirts (pre-order recommended). Entry is for those aged 17 and over on the race date. The entry fee is listed at £31 (with discounted options shown at checkout); UKA-affiliated athletes receive a £2 discount. A strict three hour cut off applies and runners at the 10 mile marker after 2 hours 20 minutes will be asked to stop and be transported to Race HQ.
