Event Overview

This is the fourth annual Fort Custer "Defender" 5K, organized by the 177th Regional Training Institute. The event is open to the public and takes place at the Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta, Michigan.

Course & Route

The course is a flat and paved 5K route that goes around the main part of Fort Custer and into a short section of the training area. It is on two-lane roads which remain open to vehicle traffic. A water station is available near the 1-mile and 2-mile marks. Strollers are permitted, but pets are not.

Participant Information

Registration is limited to 250 participants. The entry fee is $35. All participants receive a finisher's medal and, for those registered by a certain date, running socks. Packet pickup is available only on the day of the race at the specified location. The event is professionally timed.

Additional Activities

The Fort Custer Museum will be open until noon, and there will be a military vehicle display. An awards ceremony for various age groups is scheduled after the race. Proceeds support soldier services through the 177th Regiment RTI MWR and the Fort Custer All Ranks Club.
