Event Details
The Forgotten Warrior Memorial 5k is a running, walking, and rucking event that is dog-friendly. It is held at the Forgotten Warrior Memorial within Channahon State Park. The event's purpose is to honor the memory and service of veterans lost to PTSD and to support veterans, past and present, who are battling PTSD.
Course
The route begins at Channahon State Park and heads south along the I&M Canal.
Registration and Awards
Registration includes a chip-timed race bib. The first 300 participants receive a finisher medal. Awards are given for overall and age category placements in the form of recognition pins. There is an option for participants to make a small donation to have a photo of a veteran displayed on the course and the event's web page. Packet pickup is scheduled prior to race day at the K9s for Veterans retail store in Bolingbrook.
Additional Information
Event activities include various veterans resources, vendors, sponsors, and food trucks. There is a 50/50 drawing. The participant shirt has a designated area to write the name of the person being honored. Carpooling to the event is suggested. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
