FORGE
FORGE is a 12-hour backyard-style ultramarathon held near Swinomish Casino in Skagit County, Washington, with event staging at 12885 Casino Dr, Anacortes, WA. The race follows a strict hourly loop format: runners complete a 4.167-mile loop each hour for 12 hours. Completing all 12 loops equals 50 miles.
Each loop must be completed within 60 minutes. A new loop begins on the hour; runners who finish a loop early may use the remaining time to rest, but all runners must be present at the starting line when the next hour begins. Failure to complete a loop within the time limit or missing the start of the next loop results in elimination. Chip timing is used.
Awards include recognition for the lowest cumulative time across completed loops, with a cash prize of $500 listed for that award, and an award for the runner who wins the final 12th loop among those still in the race. Runners receive event items and support on race day, including a FORGE running hat, FORGE hoodie, a custom finisher medal, day-of food and snacks, and Tailwind Nutrition endurance fuel.
The format emphasizes repeated hourly efforts, pacing, and recovery between loops. The race is organized around the loop schedule and the elimination rule that enforces the hourly cycle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
