About the race
Footsteps For Families takes place on 09/26/2026 at 321 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. The event is hosted by GlobeMed at Rutgers in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey and supports PCANJ’s work to strengthen families and build safer communities.
Event options include:
- 1 Mile Walk
- 5K Run and Walk
Participants learn about the Five Protective Factors as they move through the course: Parental Resilience, Social Connections, Concrete Support in Times of Need, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, and Social and Emotional Competence of Children. Food and drink are available to participants after their events, and music and games are scheduled following the activities.
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers of the 5K race. Registration fee amounts listed are $10 for the 1 Mile Walk and $20 for the 5K. Registration opens 07/02/2026 and closes 09/26/2026. The first 100 registrants to the 5K receive a race t-shirt; additional t-shirts are available for purchase.
