Foot Lake 4

The Foot Lake 4 is an annual running and walking event held in Willmar, Minnesota, as part of the Willmar Fests celebration. The event features a 4-mile USATF-certified course that begins in downtown Willmar. The route follows the shoreline of Foot Lake, continues through the trails of Robbins Island, and crosses the First Street bridge before returning to the Rice Memorial Hospital area.

Participants have several options for entry:

  • 4 Miles (Runners age 13 and over)
  • 4 Miles (Runners age 12 and under)
  • 4 Miles (Walkers - untimed)
  • 4 Miles (Virtual participants)

The race route includes water stops at two separate locations and provides split times at the one, two, and three-mile marks. Registered runners receive electronic timing chips integrated into their race bibs. For spectators, bleachers are positioned near the finish line at the intersection of 2nd Street and Becker Avenue.

Registration includes a t-shirt, a ticket for a pancake feed, water, and snacks. Participants also have access to free chair massages prior to the event. A portion of the registration fees is donated to the Glacial Lakes Championship Running Series. Medals are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age divisions ranging from 10 and under to 85 plus. A special award is presented to every member of the largest registered group.

The course remains closed to vehicle traffic for one hour. After this period, any participants remaining on the course must utilize crosswalks and follow standard traffic signals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
