2026 April Fools’ Day 5k & 10k
The event on April 1 offers two timed race distances at Ben Brenman Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Points earned at this event count toward the Year‑Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series and also toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available.

This is a paved course with minimal hills and views of the park pond and the Holmes Run waterway. The 10 km course is an out and back route completed twice. The race is chip timed and finishers receive a medal. Instead of shirts, participants receive themed socks; socks are guaranteed for runners registered before March 18 and will be available afterward on a first come first served basis.
Registration fees are listed with an early cutoff of March 15: 5k $30 until that date (then $35), 10k $45 until that date (then $50). Prices increase on race morning by $5 for each distance. Race day registration and packet pickup are available at the event. Three water stations are placed along the 10k course at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65; the 5k has one water station near mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations.
The event benefits City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue. Live results are posted online and final results with series points are published after the race. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women and to age group finishers across multiple categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
