FOOBS Trail and Fun Runs
FOOBS Trail and Fun Runs is a community fundraising running event held at Old Basing and Lychpit Recreation Ground, 93 The St, Old Basing, Basingstoke RG24 7DA, UK. The route runs mainly off road across varied terrain and starts and finishes in the village. The event is supported by the local community, parish council and local running clubs and raises funds for Friends of Old Basing Schools.
The event includes these distances:
- 10K Trail Run - chip timed, mostly off road
- 6K Trail Run - chip timed, mostly off road
- 2K Fun Run - aimed at families and younger runners
Entries include a unique finisher medal and chip timing for the trail races. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third placed male and female in the trail races, and first, second and third junior male and female in the 6K. Cakes, refreshments and a BBQ may be available, with proceeds from sales going to F.O.O.B.S. A bag drop is provided; participants are advised to leave valuables at home. Parking is available on the Recreation Ground for a suggested donation and is weather dependent, with walking and car sharing encouraged. Dogs are not permitted on the Recreation Ground or on the courses. Some participants have reported the 2K route measured closer to 1.75 km.
