Folsom Swim Run
The Folsom Swim Run takes place at Black Miners Bar within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. This multi-segment event features alternating legs of swimming and running. Participants may enter as individuals or as part of a two-person team. Teams are required to complete each portion of the course together.
Athletes can choose between two primary distances:
- Short Course: 3.5 miles total, consisting of 4 swim segments and 3 run segments.
- Long Course: 8.3 miles total, consisting of 6 swim segments and 5 run segments.
Both courses are designed to start and finish with a swim. Participants must carry all equipment used during the race, including shoes and wetsuits, from the start to the finish line. Rules permit the use of optional gear such as pull buoys and hand paddles, provided they are carried for the duration of the event. Number belts and swim caps are provided and must be worn during their respective segments.
For those on the Long Course, four aid stations are positioned at miles 1.25, 2, 4, and 7. These stations provide water, electrolyte beverages, and energy gels. All registered athletes receive a pair of socks, a finishers' hat, and a swim cap. A post-race meal is provided for participants. Entry to the venue at Black Miners Bar via Greenback Lane requires a vehicle day-use fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
