Folsom Lake Sweetwater Trail Run

The event takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Salmon Falls Parking Lot in El Dorado Hills, CA. Multiple race distances are offered and most non-kids races begin in wave starts. The event has a nine hour overall time limit.

The course is about 95% single-track and 5% dirt road, primarily following the South Side Trail. Trails include gently rolling hills, some technical sections, and small paved portions. The route parallels Folsom Lake and passes through oak trees and grassy areas in the Sierra foothills. There is a creek crossing where runners can expect wet feet and slippery rocks; an alternate course that avoids the creek may be used in inclement weather. Courses are marked with ribbons, signs and gypsum.

Aid stations are staffed and several toilets are available at the start/finish and on course. Drop bags are accepted and will be delivered to aid stations; runners should clearly label drop bags with name and bib number. At least one EMT will be present. Volunteers support aid stations and receive credit toward a future race.

Parking requires a vehicle fee with self-registration; paid ranger-patrolled parking and overflow lots are available and carpooling is recommended. Dogs are not permitted on the course for safety reasons.
