Courses are out-and-back routes marked with ribbons, signs, and gypsum. There is a creek crossing that may cause wet feet and slippery rocks; an alternate route that avoids the creek may be used in inclement weather. Toilets are available at the start/finish and at aid stations on course. Multiple aid stations and water stops are provided; some aid stations have cutoffs and the event enforces a 9-hour overall time limit. Drop bags can be checked at registration for delivery to specified aid stations; participants are advised not to place electronics or valuables in drop bags. Dogs are not permitted on the course due to narrow single-track sections and participant volume. Volunteers are used to staff aid stations and assisting volunteers receive a future race credit.
