Folsom Lake Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlons
The Folsom Lake Sprint and Super Sprint triathlons take place at Granite Beach in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area on Sunday, May 9, 2027. The two races are not USAT sanctioned in 2027. Each race includes a lake swim, a road bike course on park roads closed to traffic, and a trail or mixed-surface run.
Distances:
- Super Sprint: 400 yard swim, 5 mile bike, 2 mile run
- Sprint: 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run
The 2 mile run starts at Granite Beach and finishes at the transition area on Old County Road, with crushed granite paths and dirt trails. The bike course begins and ends at the Old County Road transition area, passes Oak Point and turns at Beeks Bight, operating entirely within the park on closed roads. Transition racks are first-come except for reserved racks for TRI Clubs; the transition area is for athletes only and requires body marking at entry. Glass and bottles are not allowed in transition.
Included for competitors are a swim cap, post-race refreshments, a pair of TBF Racing socks and a custom Folsom Lake Triathlon finisher hat. Race t-shirts are available for $20 if ordered before May 2. Finisher medals can be pre-ordered for $15 and must be ordered before April 2. Water temperature is expected to be about 64 degrees and wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled while on the bike. Listening devices are prohibited.
Packet pickup is available on race morning at the race site. Refunds are not given; refunds requested before race week receive a race credit minus a $25 processing fee. Transfers between TBF Racing events are allowed within one year for a $25 fee; credits and transfers are not allowed during race week. Events are held rain or shine.
