Folsom Lake Sprint & Super Sprint Triathlons
The event takes place at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, and offers two race distances that include a lake swim, a road bike on country roads and a trail run. The races will not be USAT sanctioned in 2026.
Distances:
- Super Sprint: 400 yard swim, 5 mile bike, 2 mile run
- Sprint: 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run
The bike course runs entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic, starting and finishing at the transition area at Old County Road, passing Oak Point and turning at Beeks Bight. The 2 mile run follows crushed granite paths and dirt trails from Granite Beach to the transition area.
The transition area is open first-come except for reserved racks for tri clubs. Only athletes may enter; body marking is done at the transition entrance and numbers and age division marks are required. Glass and bottles are not allowed in transition.
Equipment and safety rules note a water temperature around 64 degrees and recommend wetsuits. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike and run numbers must be visible when crossing the finish line. Listening devices are prohibited.
Each competitor receives a swim cap, post-race refreshments, a pair of event socks and a custom finisher hat. Race t-shirts are available for $20 when ordered before May 3, 2026.
Divisions use 10-year age groups plus Athenas and Clydesdales. Awards include first overall male and female and 3-deep age group awards. Refunds are not given; pre-race-week refund requests receive race credit minus a $25 processing fee. Transfers between TBF Racing events are allowed within one year for a $25 fee.
