Folsom Lake International Triathlon
The Folsom Lake International Triathlon is held at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake SRA in Granite Bay, California. The event offers an Olympic distance triathlon and an aquabike division, both sanctioned by USA Triathlon and requiring an annual or one-day USAT license. The field is limited to 300 athletes in 2027.
Course format:
- Folsom Lake Int'l Tri: 1.5K swim - 40K bike - 10K run
- Aquabike: 1.5K swim - 40K bike
The swim starts from the beach on a triangular course marked by large white buoys and exits up the beach to the transition area in the parking area. Wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. The bike requires a helmet worn and buckled at all times. The run follows single track, pavement, and fire road; run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices such as MP3 players or headphones are not allowed.
Included for competitors are a swim cap, post race refreshments, and a custom Folsom Lake Triathlon Runners Hat; Blue Seventy is the official swim course sponsor and provides a custom swim cap. Aid stations are located in transition and at miles 1, 2, 3, and 5 on the run course and will serve cold water, Hammer energy gels, and an electrolyte beverage. Commemorative t-shirts and finisher medals are available for pre-order with stated deadlines. The event has a no refund policy with limited transfer options and a processing fee.
