Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon
The Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon is organised by the Folkestone Rotary Club and takes place in Folkestone, Kent. Race headquarters are at The Grand on The Leas. The event comprises a half marathon and a junior run.
The accurately measured course starts outside The Grand, passes through the coastal park and follows an out and back route to Hythe. Much of the route runs along the seafront promenade and is relatively flat, though there are a couple of hills and a notable climb close to the finish. Local community groups and marshals provide visible support along the route.
The event is a fundraising race. All proceeds and individual fundraising are donated to local charities. A charity entry option includes a five pound donation to the Folkestone Rotary Club. Detailed route maps including GPX files are available.
Included for participants are a bespoke medal, trophies and cash prizes for leading runners, and finish line goodies. On the day entry fees, subject to availability, are listed as five pounds for the junior run and thirty five pounds for the half marathon. Race information, parking guidance and travel notes are provided to entrants; limited parking is available near the hotel and Leas Cliff Hall car park is suggested as an option. The closest railway station is Folkestone West with limited Sunday services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
