The 26th Mile
The 26th Mile is the final one mile event of the Flying Pig Kids’ Marathon, presented as part of Flying Pig Marathon Weekend in downtown Cincinnati. The event gives children the opportunity to complete the last mile of an incremental marathon program and cross the Flying Pig Marathon finish swine.
All registered participants receive a shirt, a finisher medal, and a limited-edition poster. The course and start area maps are provided by the organizers. The event course is centered on downtown Cincinnati with a family reunion area set up in Smale Park near the Finish Line. Spectator zones will be available along the course and near the Finish Line exit.
Children work toward a full marathon distance in increments in the months before the event; the 26th Mile is the occasion to cover that final mile after completing the preceding 25 miles. Official Flying Pig youth groups receive perks such as registration discounts and early packet pickup options, and organizers provide support and resources for group leaders. Children do not have to belong to a group to participate, and adults or older children are encouraged to register alongside non-group participants for safety and course access. Final instructions, event maps, and packet pickup information are sent to registrants before the event.
The program is normally intended for grades K through 6 but welcomes all ages and abilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
