Flying Otter Wine Run 5k
The Flying Otter Wine Run 5k is a chip-timed event held at the Flying Otter Vineyard and Winery in Adrian, Michigan. The course begins and ends at the Tasting Room pavilion and takes participants through a variety of outdoor terrains. The route is primarily set on grass through the vineyard rows, across the scenic farm property, and along dirt paths located in the forested areas of the site.
Participants can choose to run or walk the distance. Due to the nature of the agricultural setting, the ground on the course is uneven, and while strollers are permitted, they are not recommended for this terrain. Because the venue is a produce farm, domestic dogs are not allowed on the property per USDA regulations.
Registration includes several items for participants:
- 5 km distance
- Soft ring-spun cotton t-shirt
- Shatterproof and collapsible wine glass
- Finisher medal
- Chip-timed race bib
- Access to online results
- One pour of wine for participants of legal age
The event recognizes performance with age group awards for the top three male and female finishers in ten-year brackets, ranging from 19 and under to 80 and over. Competitive runners must start in the first wave to be eligible for these awards. Results are posted online, and winners can collect their medals at the registration table on the day of the event. The race supports Miracle Meadows Ranch, a non-profit organization that provides animal-assisted therapies for the local community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
