About the race
The Fly with the Eagles Half Marathon is the 21st running of the event, held at Southern Illinois Airport in Murphysboro, Illinois. The main in-person half marathon takes place on February 13, 2027, and the event window runs through February 14–21, 2027 to include the virtual option.
The event offers a 13.1 miles half marathon in two formats: an in-person race at the airport and a virtual half marathon. Virtual participants may complete the distance on a treadmill, around their neighborhood, or on a course of their choosing between February 14 and February 21, 2027; instructions for submitting times will be emailed to registrants.
Registration opens September 4, 2026. Specific registration close dates vary by entry type: the in-person half marathon registration closes October 9, 2026; virtual registration closes February 14, 2027; a hoodie-only option closes January 22, 2027. Listed entry fees are $50 for the half marathon and virtual half marathon, and $30 for the hoodie-only option.
Finishers receive a custom finisher medal, and early registrants receive an official hooded sweatshirt. Overall and age-group awards are offered. Hooded sweatshirts must be picked up at packet pickup or by the end of race day; unclaimed hoodies will not be held after the race.
