Neighborhood Co-op Feed Your Neighbor 5K
The Neighborhood Co-op Feed Your Neighbor 5K is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, in Carbondale, Illinois. The course begins and ends at Turley Park at Old West Main and Glenview and runs through the residential area behind the Murdale Shopping Center. The event is professionally timed and the course is certified. Participants may run or walk; the event is described as family friendly. Snacks and refreshments are provided for participants.
Entry, prizes and charity
Standard entry fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children 14 and under; day-of registration fees are listed as $25 and $15. Prizes include a $100 Co-op gift card for the top overall female and male, age-category prizes that include loaves of bread for top finishers, and door-prize entries for participants. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food for the local food pantry. All proceeds support Good Samaritan House of Carbondale, which provides a food pantry, soup kitchen, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and emergency assistance (including help with rent or utilities, prescriptions, work clothes, and transportation).
