Neighborhood Co-op Feed Your Neighbor 5K
The Neighborhood Co-op Feed Your Neighbor 5K is a community event on Friday, April 10, 2026, in Carbondale, Illinois. The race supports the Good Samaritan House of Carbondale and organizers ask participants to bring nonperishable food for the local food pantry.
The course is a professionally certified 5K that begins and ends at Turley Park at Old West Main and Glenview and runs through the residential area behind the Murdale Shopping Center. The event is professionally timed and allows participants to run or walk. Registration is available in advance and there is day-of registration.
Entry fees are stated as $20 for adults and $10 for children 14 and under, with higher fees for day-of sign-ups. Prizes include a $100 Co-op gift card for the top overall female and male, age-category awards that include a loaf of bread for category winners, and door prizes. Snacks and refreshments are provided for participants.
All proceeds and donations support Good Samaritan House of Carbondale. Good Samaritan House operates a food pantry, soup kitchen, emergency shelter and transitional housing, and provides emergency assistance such as help with rent, utilities, prescriptions, transportation, and basic needs for the area’s vulnerable residents.
