Beach Run/Walk for America's Warriors
The annual Flora-Bama Beach Run/Walk for America's Warriors takes place entirely on the white sand beaches of Florida and Alabama. The event features courses set against the Gulf of Mexico, beginning and ending behind the Flora-Bama Lounge. Participants compete on the sand rather than paved roads.
The event offers two primary distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5K Run and Walk
The half marathon course heads east into Florida and includes five water stations located at miles 1, 2, 4, 6, and the turnaround point. The 5K course heads west into Alabama for 2.5 kilometers before turning back toward the finish line.
Registration fees for these races are donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. This organization provides scholarship grants, counseling to surviving children of special operations personnel, and financial assistance to wounded personnel.
Participants receive a post-race breakfast buffet and beverage options. The first 400 registrants are provided with an event shirt. All finishers of the half marathon receive a medal, while the first 300 finishers of the 5K receive a medal. A tribute ceremony is held after the race to honor service members before the awards are presented. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
