Flight of the Heron 5k, 10k, & 1 Mile
The Flight of the Heron is a run in Akron that celebrates renewal of the Little Cuyahoga and Cuyahoga Rivers. The event serves as the kickoff for the City of Akron’s Blue Heron Homecoming festival, an environmental festival with family-friendly tours, educational opportunities, giveaways, demonstrations, activities, waterway safety information, and recreation centered on the city’s recent public infrastructure and waterway renewal.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K 3.1 miles
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 1 Mile 1 mile
Awards are given to male and female age group winners and to the top three male and female finishers overall. Every registrant receives a medal and socks while supplies last. Strollers are welcome and dogs are not permitted. Children age 5 and under register free.
Location information: Mustill Store Museum, 57 West North Street, Akron, OH 44304. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes July 5, 2026. Registration fees vary by distance as listed by the organizer.
