FLATS Trail Half Marathon
The FLATS Trail Half Marathon is a point to point trail race held in Kirksville, Missouri. The event features a 1/2 Marathon distance run on forested singletrack and some road sections, with varied terrain that includes roots, rocks, water crossings, and hills.
The course is marked and supported by volunteers. There are seven aid stations approximately at miles 1.5, 3.2, 5.2, 7.9, 9.85, 11.3, and 12.5 offering water, sports drink, snacks, and gels. Runners are encouraged to carry extra calories or a hydration system because stops are spaced irregularly. The finish area supplies beverages, pizza, and snacks. A gear drop system will transport one bag per person from the starting area to the finish.
Logistics include pre-race packet pickup on the Friday before the race at the ATSU Thompson Campus Center between Noon and 7:00 p.m. Race morning packet pickup and shuttle arrangements are available at the race site. A shuttle runs from the finish back to the start; runners who are ready to board by the posted shuttle time are guaranteed a spot. Entry transfers and a partial credit option are available under stated deadlines, and a pregnancy and postpartum deferral option exists.
Awards include prize money for top overall finishers in female, male, and nonbinary categories and commemorative pint glasses for top age-group finishers. The event supports the Forest Lake Area Trail System and follows stated inclusiveness and trail etiquette guidelines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
