First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K
The First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K is an annual running and walking event held in Locust Grove, Georgia. Organized by the nonprofit RELIF in collaboration with Next Step Counseling, this 4th annual event takes place at 4200 Strong Rock Parkway. The event is held in conjunction with National Law Enforcement Suicide Awareness Day to promote mental health, physical wellness, and community policing.
Participants can choose from the following course options:
- 5K run or walk
- Virtual 5K option for remote participation
The 5K course is USATF certified and serves as a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. The event features timed bibs for those who wish to track their results. Before the race begins, participants engage in a group warmup and stretching session led by fitness experts. On-site amenities include water for participants, a mental health fair, live entertainment, and various community partners and vendors.
The event operates under a rain or shine policy. All participants receive a themed swag bag, and race day registration is available through cashless payment options only. Proceeds from the registration fees support training and counseling services for first responders and their families. Public parking is available at the race site, though no additional transportation is provided. Participants must provide a government-issued photo ID during the mandatory check-in process.
