About the Event
The Calgary First Responders Half Marathon is an annual event established to support the city's first responder community. The race pays tribute to paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and public safety personnel. Participation helps raise funds for mental health initiatives through the Canadian Mental Health Association - Alberta Division and the Centre for Suicide Prevention.
The event takes place at St. Patrick's Island Park West Lookout and features the following distances:
- 21 km (Individual or Team of 4)
- 10 km (Individual or Team of 4)
- 5 km (Frontline 5km)
- 1 km (Fun Run)
The team events are not relays; all four members run the course together, and the team result is determined by the average of the four individual times. Participants must be at least 16 years old for the semi-marathon and 10 years old for the 10 km distance by the end of the year.
All entry packages include a commemorative cotton t-shirt (guaranteed for those registered before October 2), a finisher medal, and chip timing with live updates. The course features aid stations stocked with hydration and nutrition, and post-race snacks are provided to all athletes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
